DECRETO LEGISLATIVO Nº 34, DE 1955

Aprova o Acordo Básico da Concessão de Assistência Técnica entre Brasil a Organização das Nações Unidas.

Art. 1º

É aprovado o Acordo Básico para Concessão de Assistência Técnica entre Brasil e a Organização das Nações Unidas, assinado em Nova York, a 11 de setembro de 1952.

Art. 2º

Este Decreto Legislativo entrará em vigor no data de sua publicação, revogadas as disposições em contrário.

BASIC AGREEMENT FOR THE PROVISION OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BETWEEN THE UNITED NATIONS AND THE GOVERNMENT OF BRAZIL

ARTICLE I

Provision of technical assistance

The United Nations (hereinafter called ?the Organization?) and the Government of the United States of Brazil (hereinafter called ?the Government?) desiring to give effect to the resolutions and decisions relating to technical assistance ao the Organization, which are intended to promote the economic and social progressof peoples, have agreed as follows:

1 - The Organization shall render technical assistence to the Government on such matters and in suck manner as may subsequently be agreed upon in supplementary agreements or arrangements pursuant to this Agreement.

2 - Such technical assistance shall be furnished and received in accordance with the observations and guiding principles at forth in Annex I of Resolution 222 IX (A) of the Economic and Social Council of the resolutions and decisions of the organs of the Organization.

3 - Such technical assistance may consist:

  1. of making available the services of the experts to the country in order to render advice and assistance to the appropriate authorities;

  2. of organizing and conducting seminars, training programmes, demonstration projects, export wirking groups, and related activities in such places as may be mutually agreed upon;

  3. of awarding acholarships and fellowships or of making other arrangements under which candidates nominated by the Government and approved by the Organization shall study or receive training outside the country;

  4. of the preparing and executing pilot projects in such places as may be mutually agreed upon;

  5. of providing any other form of technical assistance which may be mutually agreed upon.
